They are coming through Boston April 2 - 4. I would love to get into a group that is interested in this competition. I'm pretty sure I can push out an entire short film score in 2 days. So, if there are any other student film makers around Boston that would like to put a group together with me - or if you have a group and just need a composer, let me know.
btw - this msg board has really been a great place to make contacts.
Thanks,
Greg Tripi

They are? Damn, I want to do that, but I doubt I'd get anything together in time.

Not much to get together except for a crew. Most of information comes the day of the shoot. Here is the link for the website:

interesting, i know that campusmoviefest (www.campusmoviefest.com) is coming to Boston around the end of March - it's where the colleges compete to make the best film. Me and some other guys at Emerson have signed up for that. I'll check out 48hourfilm too

I've got about fifty projects going on right now, and I'm trying to enter the DeNiro festival... but if someone else is putting together a Boston team I may be available (can do camera, directing, editing, post/effects, acting, etc.) Smile

I've heard about the campusmoviefest before - I didn't realize that they were coming to Boston this year. I'm down the street from Emerson at Berklee. If you guys need any music for that, feel free to contact me. Sounds like another good competition.

I was a team leader in the brisbane 48HP. Was an awesome experience, except i was sick to the point that all i could do was sleep for the first 12 hours and i spend the remaining 36 hours spewing up as i tried to edit. Other than that YOU MUST GET INVOLVED, is an awesome experience and challenge.

Where is Brisbane? I'm still hoping that a team may have formed around here - but just need to locate a composer. I would understand if film editors/directors/writers hang out in a close community, and might not be familiar with composers. On the other side though - I hang out with a big group of film composers who don't know any directors.... but are trying to meet some.

I was co-DP in Greensboro's 48 Hour Film Project and enjoyed it immensely (though tiring)!

I have to point out - in checking the link for the 48 Project in Boston (earlier post) - that is the 2004 Date. The 2005 schedule is not yet out!

I wanted to check to see if Greensboro was going to be included again!

You certainly are right about the 2004 date. I think I was looking at that and saw the 2005 in the corner. This is actually the link for this year's competition: http://www.48hourfilm.com/boston-2005.htm
It's actually April 8 - 10.
Just wondering from the people who did this in the past - how many people did you need on a team?
thanks,
Greg

In Greensboro we had 26 teams. Our team consisted of:

12 actors (approx)
2 DPs
Director
Asst Director/Editor
Screen Writer
Used my boom/mic
Used my and my brother's (other DP) lights and bounce

Some teams had more, some had only a few people. Depends on what you want. Most of the actors on our team were from local theatre and a few from out of town. Not all were happy with their "parts"!

BIG HINT - Too many actors can be a curse. One actor (probably the best of the group) went to the restroom and when he came out (just a few minutes later), the scripts had been given out and he didn't have one. He was asked to be a "stand-by", got pi$$ed and left!

Still, it was fun, a little frustrating, but an overall good experience. I think my brother and I will try to put in our own team this year (since the team used most of our equipment, but didn't let us make any decisions)!

Yeah, I know. It sounds like "it's my ball so I'll take it home"!

Brisbane is on the east coast of australia, and is the capital city of queensland. Brisbane is located about an hours drive north of surfer's paradise and the gold coast
