Bassically any festival that has low entry fees, a descent shot at a "prize" of some sort and "industry" folk in attendance to eithere lend their professional opinions or better yet pick up films for distribution is a good deal. Envisioning such a festival is one thing, pulling it togethere is quite another.

I am not being critical at all, just offering some insite after being heavily involved in a festival as it was rebuilt from the ground up and after several years is just now starting to get some real people to attend.

The key to most festivals is getting it known, usually through press. Interviewers on a national scale will inevitably ask a very important question, "There are already SO many film festivals, why are you making one? What makes yours different?" In the afore mentioned festivals case the proceeds went to supporting local arts education making it almosty a charitable event. It is a good angle to get celebrities to attend (which it did) Ultimatley however it should be about providing film makers with the reciognition they deserve. Treat film makers like royalty and make it a pleasur5able an experience as possible and word of mouth alone will get more and more entries each year. Hope this sheds some light. I second the interest of more info though.
