Interesting story none the less. "Beyond" came from a spontaneous thought turned executed turned final product. My good friend, Alexander Stone, who I near when I lived in Iowa a few years back made films with me and that's where the whole hobby began. Then moving out to California in 2000 and him staying there, we never saw eachother or made anything together again.
Until just April. We always kept the option of seeing each other again and when he brought up the thought of him coming out here for a few days during Spring Break, it actually sounded like a reality. And so it happened. He managed to get a plane ticket and arrive here on a Sunday and was to be sent back to Iowa Friday morning. Which gave us just 4 days to become friends again, come up with a story, get people to be in it and then shoot it.
And I'll tell you right now, it was a blast. Having my best friend out here, makin a film with him again. It was just an experience I'll always remember. The collaboration itself, coming up with the story had to best part. Something dark, yet hopeful. Some comedy, yet not overbearing. Intense but not nerve-racking. And definetly freaky at points. Though I'd take point at most of the shots, he'd help evaluate them and give advice, work with lights, manage the sound. It was still a great collaboration.
So in the end, he flew back Friday morning with a experience I hope was just as good as mine if not better. Check it out. It's called "Beyond" and up now to watch.
I know Zander also has a new film up, he showed it to me when he came over for those few days. It's simple and entertaining. Just don't expect too much and you'll walk away better satisfied.
As for myself, I don't believe I'll be posting anything up for awhile. I've got plenty of projects all in mind, some on notes. It's just a matter of putting them all together. Which obviously takes time. But I will be updating my site here and there. Check it out. Take care.
