Tizzy: I got it for $717 out the door (3. something production tax)

The DVX has a standby mode, but you can switch it off.

How do you switch it off? I have saved my settings, so i can pull them back up, but that standbys a pain (and I havent finished the manual)R. m.

the camera turns off when in stand-by to conserve battery power. The only way to stop this is to remove the tape which is in your camera. This is what i've have to do when doing multi-cam stuff swithced/mixed on location.

I don't have my dvx with me right now but I believe under "other functions" then "camera protect" you can set it to either turn off after while or go into stand by mode, where it stays on.

i'm not sure why the factory default is to turn off- everyone hates that.

What I hope they do is leave the camera on, but the tape mechanism at rest. Otherwise if you have the camera and tape both on, it's like your on record-pause, which can easily wear out the tape heads after extended periods.

Hey Dracul,

If you need a cinematographer I'm always looking for interesting stuff to shoot. I could definately use more commercials for my reel.
