Hey guys hows it going. I just wanted some feedback on the type of action movies that everybody likes. My Film Group is in the process of making three short films that have great plots for short films we think and i was wondering since it is mainly filmakers that i want opinions from for this kind of thing. Now when i said action movies earlier i mean we have plots that could really have some cool action to them. We have a variety of gun props, three fairly good martial artist, and a couple wrestlers. But more than that we have aquired several really good actors that have said will be in this series. I want to know if when you guys watch movies on here do you want to see great acting with good action or great action with descent plot and good acting. To give you a rough out look at this series that will be about ten minutes each film, is about a guy that cannot be killed. he can die and grow old but cannot be killed by anyone. Yes it sounds like its been done before but we have some great plot twist and cool background to make them very interesting. We are about to spend a fair bit of money and a lot of time on these scripts and films but just mainly want to know if you want a HEAT or LEATHAL WEAPON type movie. I appreciate you taking the time to read this. Please just kinda let me know what you guys like.

I like action movies that have good acting and good, intelligent writing, a good scope, and a great ending. Movies like The Matrix, X2, and Star Wars proudly feature all these qualities, and those are movies I like. To be honest, through my eyes, if any one of these qualities are missing, it can badly hurt an otherwise great action movie.

For action flicks, it is always nice to have it all --- good acting/action and a great story, but it isn't always necessary for it to be enjoyable. Take a movie like Kickboxer for example. This movie is pretty awful, but in a good Bloodsport sorta way hehe. I enjoy watching Bloodsport and Kickboxer though, but these definately don't have stupendous stories or acting, so it can be done. Also, Jackie Chan films tend to have real cheesy plots, but the action is fantastic. Other films have both great action and acting/story (equilibrium for example), but every action film seems to fit in its own category. I think you guys should try your best and do your own thing and just let the chips fall where they may. Just my .02 =)

I love the grunt hand to hand fighting style. It just makes it more realistic.

Indiana Jone for example was the last true modern day hero. He didn't know Kung-fu and yet could still punch the crap out of somebody.

I really liked the hand to hand in X:2. There was a little bit of flashy movement, but it wasn't over done. Watch the fight between Wolverine and that one metal chick. then there's always wolverine in the school while its being invaded.

Stick to that and the fights will be awesome.

P.S. Matrix fighting is good, but it all looks the same after awhile.

Dude, I'm dying to see some mixed style fighting. Pit those martial artists against the wrestlers and let them duke it out. Keep a wide shot, take what you like, and then go back for the close ups on the cool shots. I dunno, as blah as I felt about Blade II it was awesome the way the fighting styles changed and everyone was constantly beating and throwing the crap out of each other in different ways. Also, something that'd be cool, even if you got the guns, if these are fighters, why don't you have the reverse Indiana Jones effect? Like, a guy would whip out his gun and then the ninja, or whatever, would kick it out of his hand everytime, then you got a reason for the fight. I dunno, whatever, it's your movie, can't wait to check it out.

I think in action movie comic relief is always nice to throw in. For example, Bad Boys 2 not only was I drawn in to all the action but during all the high speed chases and explosions I was laughing my ass off at Martin and Will's bantering back and forth to eachother. Also look at any Jackie Chan movie... they have AWESOME fighting scenes, quick and Jackie does some sweet inovative stuff, but then out of nowhere there is comedy. Like in the movie First Stike Jackie is getting chased by two HUGE guys inside of his motel room so he is running around trying to get away in the kitchen he sees a window... so he flips over the counter, does like a double roll to get out the window and BOOOM!!! the window wasnt open it just looked like it was cuz it was so clean. Jackie does his trademark expression rubbing his nose while at the same time making his way to another exit. Later in the same scene he is running twords a window and does a COMPLETE stop and puts his hand through just to make sure, then begins runing again. I dont know if comedy would ruin your story, I just know in my personal opinion comedy helps as a way of releasing the adreniline built up from the action
