The NAFTA agreements do make it easier for Canadians to enter the US to work. The easiest one, which requires a letter of employment is the TN Visa. Unfortunately, most film jobs do not fall under the disciplines listed for the TN Visa. If you've recently graduated from University (or College) it will definitely make it easier for you to get in under various training visas like J-1.
