I accepted an offer to attend American University this fall for an MFA in Film and Media. I don't know all that much about the school and area except that the program looks fantastic.

What are the classes like? Will I be working on projects by myself, or will I be partnering up for bigger projects? Will I have time to get a part-time job?

What areas should I consider in the DC Metro? I have been looking mostly at the Silver Spring/Wheaton areas of Maryland. Bethesda seems a little nicer (and certainly closer) but much more expensive. I would also consider the Falls Church area of Virgina, but it seems like a sort of boring area.
