Hi everybody. I was looking all over the forums for information, but the few topics about NYFA's MFA program had no replies.

Anyway, I am an aspiring screenwriter who went through the application car wash last December. I got "accepted" into NYFA and, to be honest, I don't think the letters I'll be getting from USC and UCLA will have good news (I've already been rejected by AFI and Northwestern). So I'm starting the process of settling.

I've heard so many things about NYFA, but only ~10% of it has been positive and even less of it has been relevant to what I'm doing. Yes, it's open-enrollment; no, it's not prestigious like the universities; yes, it's a trade school; no, the film making equipment is not up to par, and so forth and so on.

But what does this really mean for the Screenwriting MFA program? I can stand not having the USC/UCLA reputation if all else is relatively equal. Specifically, is the faculty as knowledgeable? Will I be able to develop my writing as much? Or should I just try for the big ones again next year? Really, what's the difference between trade school and universities if you're a writing student? I can't think of any. But there's still the hinky reputation I've found with NYFA and I just want to clear it up.

I know I asked a ton of questions, but I appreciate all input. Thanks.
