Hi guys, i am glad to join this community and meet lots of intelligent students.
I am not old, but may older than the traditional students like most here.

I am 28 years old, and now pursue a degree in U.S after five years work. Btw, I am an International student here.
I worked and studied in a good university at PA, Studio art and art history major. There is no film production major here. And i didn't have much experience in filmmaking, however i try my best now.

So, If you guys can give me some advices to get into best film schools, or which school actullay is good for me?
I just want to make narrative film (Commercial or Indee), no documentary or experimental.

just brief experience
4 years lecturer at Microsoft intl lab in China(MCT)
1 year B2C and consultation Companies experience- Manager
Author of two film books, one art education survey.
dozen of film critiques and computer essay
Half year work as an assistant at Institute of Film Studies
three short films (HDV) (Dir,DP and write), One 35MM short film 30mins (Dir,write), One documentary 90mins(Dir,Write)

Thanks!

Most of the major film school's are story driven so you shouldn't have a problem there. Ask yourself the following questions to narrow your search:

East vs west coast?
Big city vs suburb?
Indie film vs Industry?

Answering those three things for yourself should narrow your search greatly then apply apply apply. Rewrite your apps over and over. Have other people read them. Visit the school's you're interested so you get a feel for their personality.

Thats your start. And , you're not that old compared to many grad students

Um...I'm 28, and I'm smack in the middle of my first year classmates at USC.

And with your cred, you sound like you'll be fine getting in.

Follow Winter's advice.

"old."

Ouch.

Yeah, 28 is not old. In fact, it's just about the graduate film school average from what I hear.

Your guys are so kindly.
Ye, 28 is not old, it is just start for a man.

I have a 36 years old friend who just get into Chapman , but he would no longer to care his 5 years daughter in next 3-5 years. This time is just for school, how long for film career? Is a risk? I don't know, i will do my best before 30.

No school for old men? You gotta be f.... kiddin'. I spent my 20s getting out of Eastern block and settling in the "promised land". My 30s were combo of steelmaking in Ohio's mills, and trying to "find myself"... I found myself. And, guess what, I'm not the oldest dude in Chapman's MFA program. Peace!
