I complied with every directive on the applications, page numbers, ink colors, headers, footers, fonts, whatever. I'm a follow-the-rules girl when it comes to stuff like this...
Send them what they want, just the way they say they want it.
Don't send them more than what they ask for, therefore don't send them more unless they ask for it.
It would be one thing if you hadn't spoken with anyone, but you said that you were flat-out told they have everything they need. Sending materials when you were specifically told not to seems like a REALLY bad idea to me.
Scenario A: You're already out of the running, and they're just going to throw it out without watching it.
Scenario B: You're already a frontrunner based on the materials they've received thus far, so they don't need to see any more. Upon receiving your reel that they instructed you not to send, they see you as desperate, lacking self-confidence, unable to follow instructions, or as having host of other negative traits. They throw it away without watching it, and your work has no impact on your application...but your behavior does.
Scenario C: You're already a frontrunner based on the materials they've received thus far, so they don't need to see any more. Upon receiving your reel that they instructed you not to send, they see you as a determined go-getter who's a little pushy, and they admire it unabashedly. You go straight to the admit list, and perhaps they even offer you a nice fellowship.
I've got my fingers crossed that you'll get in, Mano...I just think you should let them take the reins now.
The committee knows what they need from you. To give them even more info to process, unsolicited, when you aren't the only applicant out there, when they have so much to do anyway, well, it just seems like a bad move.
Then again, I didn't apply to Chapman.
Good Luck!!

Ha, this might be a little off topic, but if you want to show your new school colors this fall, check out a couple of these sites that sell kind of cooler school apparel than what you find in most student stores (note: I don't work for any of these sites/companies, just dig clothes).
UCLA, USC, NYU, UT, & Columbia I've seen at one or more of these sites:
So...Are you going to be a cool kid Tima?? Don't worry, if you choose Columbia I'll totally understand...although, I will have to give more industry breaks to my fellow panthers...or did we decide on Chappies??

Jaymimess, Yes I am going to Columbia, so it doesnt matter, but just wanted to let you all in on the chapman status.
Philly and Winter: Man Joe Slowensky was so amazingly nice! And I loved everything he told me about the school and how much they liked me. Its def. a tough decision, but yeah, it looks like im gonna be a lion instead of a panther! But cheers to us all! And CONGRATS JAYIMESS on USC! WHERE YOU GOING ?

I have my USC acceptance letter, and I called my mentor in shambles.
I don't know what to do. I was completely excited to go to UCLA, when the decision was made for me...AFI was off my radar a long time ago, but USC, oh USC. I've wanted to go there since I was nine or ten.
I'm a mess. My mentor says I should go to USC...she said I must want to go there or else I wouldn't even care that I got in, I'd still be UCLA, all the way.
I never thought this would happen. I certainly didn't expect this tidal wave of confusion and emotion when it did.
Sheesh.
