I e-mailed about sending my reel in on March 28th. Then I e-mailed again, at the insistence of my professors, on April 6th to inform Chapman of the missing industry experience I left out of my application.
So, I guess you can say it has been about 2 weeks now since my last e-mail and their response. In the first e-mail, which I sent to nate, he replied "you should get a notification by the end of April, if not sooner."
I haven't called, but I have sent in my updated transcripts, offered to send in my reel, and e-mailed to update my portfolio and ask for news (above).
Taking all this into account, I am just curious whether they have been looking at my application for two weeks or more, or if they haven't even gotten to it. I know, from seeing others post on here even up to a month ago, that Chapman informs you asap if you are not admitted into the program, and the online status changes from "your application is complete and is still being reviewed" to "your status is complete and a decision has been made." The point is if I don't have the latter message (implying rejection), but haven't been admitted yet, then I suppose it is just more likely that Chapman hasn't gotten to my application. But at the same time, doesn't this seem odd considering they seem to have been making decisions fairly quickly and since its been 9 weeks since they have confirmed receiving my application? (Philly's reel was sent in, then he was admitted, Ndakoulas- they must have accepted you after reviewing your application, Winter-same etc). The point is its been so long, so I would assume rejection, but my status for that hasn't changed.
On the other hand, now that I think about it, Winter was accepted awhile ago, then ndakoulas, so maybe they admit screenwriters, cinematographers and directors-in that order. Hm. But then there is Philly...
Man this second guessing thing everyone goes through is really disheartening. Sorry for the lengthy post, but I appreciate everyone's insight. No more lengthy posts by me...

Maybe its because you're from Toronto. I don't know if the process is different for international students... anyone know about this? It'd be pretty lame if it was.
I've also emailed Joe Slowensky in the past without any response.... and from my other experiences of contacting the school regarding admission status I figure its a hit or miss thing trying to reach them and get a response.
When I spoke to Joe slowensky he let me know that there are seperate committees for each discipline. The screenwriting committe knew exactly who they wanted right away. The Directing committee is picking through their apps more slowly and acceptng one or two people at a time.
I would say you are in good shape if you havent been rejected- they are debating over the last few spots, but it wouldn't hurt to call him and ask if he needs anything else from you in order to make their decision on your application.
You might want to think up some other Chapman related questions if you are afraid to sound too pushy.
I got placed on the waitlist to USC MFA Screenwriting program. I don't know what to do. I'm going crazy because its been suggested that I should try and speak to someone at the school about being waitlisted. Does anyone know if this is a good idea or if it might come off as pushy. I don't want to ruin my chances. The decision letter said I'd be notified after May 1 if there is a position open for me.
I'd really appreciate some advice.

I was rejected from UCLA Directing and am still waiting to hear back from Chapman Directing. They sure enjoy taking their time though, don't they?
I am not sure what I'll do. We'll see what happens with Chapman. However, I'm not completely opposed to waiting for USC. I have a feeling I'm one of the younger MFA candidates, so I could probably stand to use those extra few months to get settled on my own.
Did you send off your Chapman acceptance? How are you feeling? Any luck with housing in the area?

Waitlisted for AFI. Damn. But on the good side, my short will be showcased in the Pavilion short film corner at Cannes. I guess it balances out....kinda.

Winter, I feel similarly in that I don't want to commit to anything knowing that UCLA is in the picture. I don't plan on burning that bridge till we find out for sure their decision.
Just found out that I'll know by this Tuesday as well. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us on this board!

Ok I noticed that this forum was about to slip off of the active topics list and since this has been one of the longest lasting forums I have ever seen I am saving it from drifting off...
Sorry if I got anyone excited...
