hey everybody!
I'm new on this site so I've only read through some of the posts but I couldn't find any international student's.
I'm from Italy and I'm not really in the US application system, it was a nightmare to put all the material together and such a wonderful surprise when they emailed me for the interview!
unfortunately i cannot come over to NY so it's gonna be by phone....
DOES ANYBODY KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT PHONE INTERVIEWS?!?!??!
or about international student's interviews? I didn't really understand whether it's about language or something else....
In any case, did everybody got an e-mail with interviewers names?

good luck to everybody!!

hey giulia. i'm technically an international student, but canada's really not that far removed from the states and i went to my undergrad in new york....so i can sort of help you out. Phone interviews are usually the same, just you have to try harder because it's all in what you say and how you say it. I don't think its a language issue, since you were suppose to have sent in your TOEFL scores.

Other than that its really just like any interview you've had before, italian or otherwise. Just be yourself, be interesting and make sure you have a great phone connection. Nothing's worse than accidentally cutting off the interviewer.

hope it helps. I might be able to tell you more after my phone interview today.

Hi! thanks for your suggestions, it'd be great to know about your interview once you're done, i'm sure it's different for each person but's just to get an idea...here in italy i never really had any interview apart from the job-ones, but those were more thecnical than personal/creative.
well, in any case thanks for your help and i wish you very good luck with your interview- if you're not done yet!!

haha so i just finished my phone interview. I'll have to say it was much more difficult conveying things through the phone. I also felt a lot of pressure to keep the silence down because then it would seem like I'm not paying attention or something. Although I think if you need time to think then take the time. It would be a lot better than what I did and just blabber on.

I didn't do so well but I also didn't really like the school. As a result I probably self sabotaged myself. Oh well. Good luck to you all!
