Yes I am new to this community.I am getting ready to go to college in the fall for film production here in Orlando, Florida. Any pointers you guys can give me would be greatly appreciated in the industry.

Actually no I am attending Valencia Community College that offers Film production as well. I am taking a class in media arts that really gets involved in Avid, FInal Cut Pro and after effects in more detail then film department offers. After I finish I will go back and focus more on History of Film , working with 16mm and 35 mm and mounting cameras later. Full Sail is way too expensive but after Valencia I plan on attending UCF to further my education in the field.

I think that's probably a good idea to steer clear of Full Sail. It's probably one of the more expensive schools in the country and I've heard way more negatives than that positives about the place. I've heard some good things about UCF however and it seems like a good school to me.

Ever heard of International Academy of Film and Television?
Got my short term course in High Definition Cinematography and I now feel like a real pro.

I live in Orlando, too and look to attend VCC in the fall of next year--or move out of state. Not sure yet, but after VCC I plan on going to UCF. Great film program there. I hear you work closely with Universal Studios, MGM and Disney. The VCC Film program is supposed to be good.

i am actually beginning to see a lot of responses of film enthusiasts from orlando, florida. i thought florida is not very active in film business, always though west coast is the 'happening' place. actually i have been looking to be a part of a film club or any film forum in florida, but i have found only one independent film club in Brevard which is not very active.
any floridians here who know abt locally active film clubs/assocations/forums that i can be a member of??

I used to live in Orlando and occasionally went to meetings for a organization called the Florida Motion Picture & Television Association (FMPTA), you could join that.
