I am a student at Biola University, and I am a part of a group of students here making a feature-length film called Project X.

It will be shot on Hi Def, in 3 weeks time, for $13,000 this coming January. to find out more, please visit www.the-moe.com

There is a lot of interesting things on the Project X section of the website, such as all our concept art, a short Promo video, and much more. it's worth checking out.

If you didn't shoot HD, wouldn't you be able to put even more money into your production/story?

Is anyone else having trouble watching the video? It keeps skipping hardcore. To the point where I can not even watch it.

Jeff,
Thanks, and I will do my best to keep people here posted. We'll be having more updates as we go, of course, and it's likely we'll be posting more BTS featurettes on the website starting in February, after the shoot.

RFranco,
Yeah, it would be alot cheaper if we didn't shoot on HD. but that's one of our goals, to take a forward step in terms of the visual quality after the previous films we've made. And don't worry, we're not going to sacrifice production equipment for the right camera, and as far as the story goes, that is mainly in the writing/directing, and the story is always our highest priority. A lot of this will depend on how much money we can raise before January.

As for the video skipping, I've not heard about that happening until now. but we'll look into it.

Eek

Congratulations. You're the first person to actually make me do a spit-take on my monitor in quite some time.

In all seriousness, please don't take that attitude towards your visuals. Your story will thank you. I'm not trying to give you a hard time, because you do seem to care about all aspects of your production. I just get a little skeptical when filmmakers take that train of thought.

Good luck with the film!

BTW, what's the story actually about? The promo doesn't really get into it. The clips from your other films in the video looked great, though. Any chance we'll see them on the site?

NotaMono I think he was just talking about visual quality, and included cinematography and editing with directing. Smile

The film looks and sounds interesting though, hope you get your finance sorted.

ps None of the QT links for the Promo video would work for me, it just said -3285: Disconnected

Yeah, I think so too (Although those things are important factors in cinematography regardless). Smile Sorry Kevin, I'm just battling windmills.

I fought a windmill the other day.

I thought I saw a guy in my house and I tackled it (I'm kind of crazy), turns out it was just a coat hanging.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear enough in my post. What Bnew said was what I meant, and the point I was trying to make was that Things like writing, Directing, Cinematography, and editing are not things that can be bought simply by having a bigger budget (unless you are hiring a professional).

A large part of our budget is going toward camera and lighting, and trust me, all elements of the story visually and otherwise are being paid close attention to and we will not sacrifice quality storytelling for budget reasons.

What is the story about? there is actually a section on the website that talks about this to a certain extent, but for now what I'll say is that it is about a creature that gains power by absorbing electricity, and main characters are power plant workers that are trapped by this creature when it finds their power plant and starts killing them to feast on the plant's power.

Thanks for your concerns, though. I do realize that some people don't really care about the most important aspects in film, and it really is tragic.
