If you like watching film noir, do you think you'll like SIN CITY, coming out next week?

I think it could be eithe really good or really bad, but I'll go see it anyway. It looks like it will be interestingly different!

I believe Rodriquez did direct. I agree with comic-book movies being too plentiful, but this one looks different enough - and besides - I'm so old, that I've never heard of SIN CITY as a comic!

hahaha,
yes it does look different!
rodriguiz has a style to his films though. and this does have a uniqe style. overall the film should have a pretty decent storyline and the cast is huge!

hopefully its a hit!

other than that,
what other films you looking forward to?

I just saw RING 2 and it was "ok" (glad I went to the bargain matinee). I saw previews for WAR OF THE WORLDS, which is one of my favorite movies. I like Speilberg and the previews looked really good, so I'm defintely looking forward to that.

I also saw previews for DARK WATER which looked really good also. Other than those two, I haven't kept up much.

ok so im a big fan of the "mean streets" dvd, i just watched it a few days ago.

scorsese can direct.

im a pretty big fan of foriegn films though too, mainly japanese and french. Some German i suppose, FASSBINDER rules!

but im a big fan where i live. america. heh
so when it comes that. god. i dunno what half the crap is doing coming out. Prior we talked about comics, the other thing i noticed, the remakes!

so many remakes, what is the freaking deal.

so i love independent cinema, that is what this board is truly all about, right? being INDEPENDENT.

when we talk INDY though, Im totally into stuff like "BUffolo 66" "Gummo""kids" i dunno, that whole NY movement i suppose.

And like we said earlier, Rob Rodriguiz is the freaking man when it comes to INDY.

but i think i am totally off course now,
what im trying to say is AMERICAN MOVIES really suck now. Stuff that comes out is crap, im not looking forward to anything...
maybe if lynch did something new, id go see it.

america needs the whole 70s indy/violent/explotaition movement or something...

I like foreign films too. I'm not really a fan of the comics movies that have been coming out. Movies like THE HULK just kind of reinforce that!

WAR OF THE WORLDS was one of the best 50s sci-fi flicks ever made (IMHO). It will be interesting to see what Speilberg can do with it.

Also, KING KONG. While I was not a fan of the LOTR movies (not because they weren't good, but because the story bored me to tears), I think Peter Jackson will make an awesome movie.

To me, some of the remakes (like those mentioned above) let the viewer see the different visions of very good stories.

However, remakes like the shot-for-shot remake of Hitchcock's PSYCHO (a few years ago), sparked absolutely no interest for me.

I like indies too, but some are kind of out there! We have several film festivals here in NC. Cucarlorus FF in Wilmington is this weekend and I may go down there to watch some films and River Run in W-S (NC School of the Arts) will have a large selection of films next month.

Between the indies and shorts in those two festivals, I'll get my indie fill!
