Hi and welcome to the site.
If you are looking to get started as a filmmaker then just by hanging around in these forums will enable you to pick up plenty of information and tips and advice.
Also I recomend you buy a camera, start writing and filming whatever crap comes into your head. Practice, practice, practice.

my advice to u is to not get involved in film at all, if ur a musician that is. why would u want to enter an artform where u will become dependant on ppl OTHER than urself? ****, if i had any talent at anything i wouldnt bother pickin up a camera at all, i make films because i, like most hollywood and independant filmakers, am a hack! so if uve got any talent whatsoever musically stick to that, cause id kill to have it myself.

(although if ur interested in film anyways listen to everyone else, im just sayin this from my POV, so dont think we're not all glad to have u as a member of this site, cause we are)

Don't listen to HDK, lol. Exposure is a good place to start off, they have some great articles. Also check out Joren's(from this forum) site, he's got a lot of great do it yourself articles. And of course browse around the forums looking for any topics that sound interesting, and read away. Good luck!

Yeah D-Lux, stick with film for a while, see where it takes you. I recommend reading about film-making aswell, even though making them is the best way to get good at the craft. I recommend the book "My First Movie" containing the adventures of 15 famous directors at their beginnings. The info is a bit dated, but it can reveal the path that filming will take you down.

-The camera is a machine-
-The human is an animal-
-The celluloid is a plant-
