money and food are always good incentives. surround yourself with people who actually want to work and you should be fine. if you're trying to get people without motivation and passion to work with you, forget it.

I'm also from nz. Napier. My advice is if you really want to make a film go to film school. otherwise just try and find enthusiastic friends to help. If somebody is being tenative and doesnt really want to be there its really going to make things hard. You may want to use small crews so everybody is always busy this will stop people from messing around and slowing things down. good luck.

Welcome. I also live in New Zealand (Lower Hutt). I'm 16, I've only been making films since the start of this year, although I've been learning the theory and reading about it for a while.

I've shot two 7 minute films in the last month. One was for a 48hour filmmaking competition and the other was for another competition. My cast consisted of two parts:

a) Drama students
b) People at school (I go to HVHS) who looked like they would do a good job.

Turned out that it was the 'b' group that acted the best. People with no experience at all, but some of them did a really good job.

It can be hard to pull a movie together when everyone's still at high school. People don't have a lot of time and some of the people in my cast were known to muck around a little bit. Razz

You never know, some of your friends/people you know might be really good actors. And universities/film schools are full of filmmakers and actors.

Good luck and welcome to the forum.

Welcome Sam Smile

What's even weirder is that there are THREE threads like this right now, where people know each other.

here.
