Welcome. I also live in New Zealand (Lower Hutt). I'm 16, I've only been making films since the start of this year, although I've been learning the theory and reading about it for a while. I've shot two 7 minute films in the last month. One was for a 48hour filmmaking competition and the other was for another competition. My cast consisted of two parts: a) Drama students b) People at school (I go to HVHS) who looked like they would do a good job. Turned out that it was the 'b' group that acted the best. People with no experience at all, but some of them did a really good job. It can be hard to pull a movie together when everyone's still at high school. People don't have a lot of time and some of the people in my cast were known to muck around a little bit. You never know, some of your friends/people you know might be really good actors. And universities/film schools are full of filmmakers and actors. Good luck and welcome to the forum. -Chris Hurn
