As my films rotate out of the "new films postings" I just wanted to thank all who took the time to review the short films I submitted last month, it was great to get unfiltered feedback!
My anti-war short "Opposition" really showed how split people are on the war! The reviews ranged from 5 stars with words of support like "brilliant" to 1 star from a Vietnam vet calling me a "useful idiot and a hack" It was great! All in all I'm not really a political activist but I felt compelled to at least "say something." Here's the link if anyone wants to chime in: http://www.studentfilms.com/film/view/play.do?id=1649
So I hope anyone who's on the fence about turning in their work does so because family and friends will often only humor you with their feedback on Studentfilms.com you get the truth!

Or people regardless of their position on the war recognized your film as bull****, frankly. The same type of thing in favor of the war would be equally jingoistic and worthless.

Hey Kubota, jingoistic means "Extreme nationalism characterized especially by a belligerent foreign policy; chauvinistic patriotism" How in the world would my film fall under the term jingoistic? Or did you just recently hear the word and decide to use it?
Anyway relax Kubota, if folks thought the film was complete B.S. thats fine,I was just commenting on the fact that the reviews ranged from very positive to very negative, showing how split people are, most of the negative reviews commented on the accuracy or political nature of what was being said hinting toward a bias. But your furvor and ability to write the piece off as worthless tips your hand. But fair enough I would never put down you're opinion and bias is a fact of life I would be equally harsh on a pro-bush piece so I can understand what you're saying.
By the way do you have any work posted on here?

The war veteran who commented on your film, Chuck Wheeler, passed away a few weeks ago July 17. His funeral was the 25th. He served in 14 campaigns during World War II on board the USS Indiana, and received the Asiatic-Pacific Theater Ribbon, 2 Silver Stars, 4 Bronze Stars, and Victory and Gold Conduct Ribbons. Just thought I'd let you know.

I would be too. My political views have nothing to do with your dubious production techniques. You can't just 'recontextualize' MLK's words and expect to pass it off as a documentary. If you think that kind of blatant manipulation can be passed off as a legitimate documentary, you're doing a disservice to ethical documentarians everywhere and playing into the hand of lying, manipulative losers like the fat pig Michael Moore. This has nothing to do with the specific views expressed, just the way you chose to express them.
You know, I wonder how well the film would've worked if MLK's words were used in a pro-war piece. I doubt they would at all. I don't think REDking twisted his words at all, actually. I doubt Martin Luther King, like any great man, meant his words to only be used about segregation but for the better of mankind in general. Honestly, use the same speech in a pro-war/Bush/stupid ****ing bull**** point of view, and if you can make me believe, I will commend you. Right? It's only logical. Suck it. Maybe the movie didn't deserve the title of documentry but rather experimental. Whatever the case, it worked. And REDking deserves props for even thinking about using the speech like that.

"Why should North Carolina taxpayers pay for something they find objectionable?" --Sen. Phil Berger, R-Rockingham
I think you have to look at it the same way as looking at the DaVinci Code. Total flub, but he used the DaVinci's work in a story that basically said the bible was incorrect, which got a lot of people up in arms; who, by the way, blatently ignored the genre it was labeled under--fiction. But honestly, considering MLK's views, don't you think he would at least be okay with REDking's use of his words anyway?
And what's with all the complaining about presenting unfairly biased opinions through a supposed unbiased, informative genre? Fox News, anyone?
