Hey, I'm Lindsay and I just signed up. I'm an aspiring filmmaker and I'm currently a freshman at a local community college. I hope to transfer to a real film school sometime in the near future. Great site!

Welcome, mah dear! Wink

What schools have you considered? Are you an Undergrad? Grad? Also, what will be your specialties: Directing, Writing, Producing, etc? Big Grin

Thanks for the warm welcome. I'm an undergraduate. I'd like to direct and then get into screenwriting. Number one is directing. Here's the list of schools I'm applying to:

Hofstra University-5 minutes from my house
University of Miami-beautiful campus
Columbia College Chicago-safety school
School of Visual Arts-safety school
Emerson College-very good film school
Boston University-very good film school
Chapman University-one of the best film schools

My number one choice is Chapman. It's too bad NYU and USC don't allow spring admission.

Does anyone know why Chapman is one of the best for undergrad but not as good for grad school? Is the program better for undergrad?

Thanks!!

I'd say Chapman's just as good for grad as other top-tier film schools — which means the grad program is probably even better than the undergrad program, just through virtue of it being more concentrated and having priority for the best professors and equipment.

No problem and good for you! Smile Those sound like good choices! It's good to see someone who isn't just applying to the big schools. Smile I'm checking into other smaller known film schools as well.

Yeah, ada, but not for BFA, which is what a CC freshman would need.

Congrats on CU, by the way.
