I hear Express is only 100 dollars, while Final Cut Pro is more than 1,000 dollars...

yeah, that link has a nice chart. the prices are $999 and $299, but with the educational discount they're $399 and $99 i think.

That's basically what they are. I think it varies where you are. At University of Missouri Columbia (Mizzou) FCP was 299.

To get the educational discount I think you have to buy it from the apple website, the apple store, or if your school has a computer store, you can get it there.

the big differences between them is: express doesnt allow log and capture, it doesnt allow keyframing, it has fewer video and audio filters, basically, a lot of functionality is lost. I find that clip management is harder with express than it is with pro.

Do highschool or anything below college/university clases qualify for student discount?

If so, damn me for not taking advantage of that when I had the chance...

And... if it is something that is allowed... some local kids I know are still in highschool... muhuhahaha!!

When Big jay said that express doesent allow Log And Capture, he prolly ment that it dosnet allow batch capture, but it does allow the "Capture Now" function.

Capture now isn't timecode specific though, and no key framing? key framing is your LIFE when editing.
