i wish. theres this crappy program that sort of does it, AlamDV, but none of them look very good. Using aftereffects, I've tried to achieve a Zatoichi/Kill Billesque blood spray effect, but nothing works quite like some gaffers tape, a pesticide spray can, some tubing, and some sponge... oh, and of course the red stuff.

Or you can make a compressed air tank made of PVC pipe.

I've managed fairly convincing wall splatters, where the person is standing against a wall, and leaves a splatter, but I never tried the sprays.

It's 85% sound. If you advance frame by frame through many recent war movies, you'll notice that they painted in the blood in post. It doesn't look particularly convincing as a still image, but in motion the effect is fine. Most of the bullet wall hits in OUATIM were done this way, as well as all of the muzzle flashes and probably a lot of the blood sprays.

I think I painted it in PS, and added a bit of a spray in AE using particles, for like one or two frames while the painted one faded on. It worked pretty well. I'll see if I can dig up a clip of it.
