Well i have a little delima. I started to burn a dvd today and three of my programs went phsyco and wouldn't work(I have really bad luck). So I used a program that i had never used before to build and burn the dvd. I used Adobe Encore DVD and after figuring out how to make a dvd with it, i burned the dvd. It played fine on my computer, but it won't play on a dvd player. Do y'all have any idea what the problem could be and how i can fix it? The DVD has to be finished by tomorrow night, so i'm in a bit of hurry. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Are you sure your DVD player will play Burned DVD's? (My parents will, mine won't). Also what kind of media are you using DVD+ or -? If it plays in your computer with powerdvd or windvd or even media player, then it's burned correctly.

I'm sure its not the dvd players cause i tried it on several different ones, and i used a dvd+R. But i did get it to actually play on one dvd player but It won't let me select other items in the menu. It won't let me select anything other than the first item in the menu. I could select the other items when i played it on my computer cause i could use the mouse, but the navigation buttons and >>| buttons won't do anything when its on a dvd player.

My only contribution is that most stand-alone DVD players are DVD-R (minus), not + (plus). Some of the newer ones will play both, but when I burn DVDs for customers, I always burn -R. Computers usually burn +R. So that could be your problem.

Good luck.

I'm note sure about this one. I haven't used encore in a while. If it plays correctly on your computer then the disc is burned right. As far as the controls go, I think encore sets these, but in your project file you made sure that you set the actions for the user's remote right (like onclick = play movie). When I get home I'll look at the software and see if I can get the real terms for you.

IT's true. Most stand alone DVD players wil not play DVD+R's. Also in Adobe Encore DVD, make sure at one of the last steps when "building" the project, it doesn't say "PC-BASED DVD PLAYERS ONLY". That means you need to de-multiplex your audio from video in your MPEG files.

I'm not so sure that's true. I read somewhere that 91% of DVD players play DVD+Rs while only something like 83% played -Rs. A google search would settle this. But I'm too lazy.

I've had exactly the same problem with encore. I burnt to a -RW. Plays fine on my PC but on the DVD player it just comes up with the Root/Video directories.
The region is correct and the build setting is
not the 'PC-Based DVD Players only'.

DOH
Burnt the project to a -R and it worked fine.
PITA DVD player recognised a -RW disk but plays it different from a -R
