I've been experimenting with different types of animation, and one I really want to try is a Waking Life/Who Framed Roger Rabbit style where the animation is drawn right onto the film. I use a JVC DV camcorder, and will be editing all on the computer. I use Sony Vegas 4.0, but can't figure out how to save each frame as an image on my computer. Does anyone know how to do this?

Also, do any Vegas users know how to change the FPS or add a slow/fast motion effect?

Ya do it by exporting the film into a filmstrip file. That file can be opened for editing in photoshop easily.

I think the filmstrip export function is only available on Premiere, but I could be wrong.

You can export a "filmstrip" in Avid and FCP.

The option is to export a PICT sequence.

So there's no way to do this with Sony Vegas?

I've never used Vegas...but I'd be surprised if there wasn't a similar option.

To export a single frame in Vegas, go to the Video Preview window and click the icon of the floppy disk. Then save it as a JPG or PNG image.

To export a video clip as an image sequence, go to Tools > Scripting > Render Image Sequence then fill in what you need and hit Ok to start.

Now I'm using vegas 6 so I don't know if it's the same in 4.
