I want to give my DV a low quality film feel by adding the transparent film leader with hand writing on it to the begining of my DV. Can anyone suggest where to obtain a clip of that on the net or for purchase?

You could always try creating one yourself. You could probably do it with any video editor, but how good it'll look is unknown.

Here's a solution:

1. Buy one 100-foot roll of Kodak B&W 16mm Filmstock: Plus-X or Tri-X.

2. Open it up and expose it all to natural sunlight, place it underneath lamps, etc.

3. Have it processed. Should cost approx. $15. You will end up with a roll of transparent film.

4. Beat the film up. Grind sand along the surface, drag it across some cement, etc. (Make sure you don't actually rip the film or tear it.)

5. Get a grease pencil or magic marker and draw
cool stuff in the frames.

6. Now project your film onto a screen and record it with your DV camera. (OR if you have the means, send it to a developer and have them telecine it for you.)
