I've shot on DV a 15 minute short to show investors about funding to do a full length. It's stylistic, it looks beautiful. However, I haven't scored it yet. I'm looking for something that sounds very spaghetti western/mariachi/funkish similar to the soundtracks in Once Upon A Time in Mexico and The Street Fighter (1970s Sonny Chiba film.)

Anyone know where I could obtain something similar to this for either free or very very inexpensively? This is basically a rough version to show people to try and obtain funding. If worse comes to worse, I'll steal it from many of the old PD movies I've got, but I wanted to know if anyone has a better source.

teenagdcelluloid, i dont think that helps me. i need public domain stuff, it can't be infringing on copyright. i want to release this as an extra on the DVD when I do the full length, because it's somewhat of a prequel.

i'm going to look into edgen.com though.

ive been looking around for free funky western stuff, but no luck. If you have a ton of free time someday, you might want to cruise www.opsound.com (which has "open source music", but its mostly experimental or electronica) Also you can try www.archive.org, they have a whole section on music, alot of it is free, as long as its not for commercial purposes. or if all else fails, ask one of the many composers on the site to make you a song.

hey paul,

i'd be interested in creating the music for it. i don't really have any place i could link you to show you other stuff i've done, but i could come up with a quick sample to send you.

let me know what you think. this sounds like it could be fun.

Edgen's music is good but I think it often sounds way too electronic and artificial. I personally hate it when music sounds like that, and it's a common thing among amateur composers.
