Other than the obvious added software and everything that comes with DS Nitris, is there a major difference in the non linear editing aspect of these two? I am asking because I am wondering how much it would help me to learn Avid Media Composer at school while on an internship I would be using Avid DS Nitris.

I know learning Avid is helpful because it is the industry standard but if Media Composer is different from DS Nitris I don't want to take the time to master it in the next couple months if it would be a waste because I would have to relearn the program for the intership.

Any insight you could give would be great.

The editorial differences between Media Composer and DS Nitris are HUGE. Very very different interfaces.

That being said - someone who knows DS Nitris would be a great skill to have. There aren't many who know how to use it.

Learn both. Having DS Nitris skills IN ADDITION to Media Composer would make you a very attractive hire for when you are looking for a job.

DS Nitris is a great online finishing system. If you can learn how to use it - and are good at it, a DS Nitris editor can make a LOT of money.
