Hi Im Rob and im having a bit of trouble working out what software i need to do effects like reversing changing colour on one little bit of your film. Is Adobe After Effects the right program to use? Thanks For Your Help

While you can do some of that stuff in After Effects, it's not very economical to, since most editing programs can do it. If you tell us what editing program you use someone around here's going to know how to do it.

It depends on what type of computer you are on... MAC or PC? If you are on a MAC... hell you can just use iMovie to do those things. But I doubt that you are on one since you are asking the question. On a Windows PC running Windows XP you can use the 'Windows Movie Maker' to slow a clip down, or reverse it, etc... So Yeah...Very cheap, and while these options aren't what I would use for editing most of the time they will do what you want.

most editing programs like Premiere and Final Cut pro have options where you can slow down and reverse clips, as well as manipulating the colors as well. Unless the editing program you will be using can't do those, do them in After Effects.

Thanks for your advice. I have adobe Premier Pro so if someone could tell me how to change the colour and reverse a clip and slow it down etc i would be very grateful.

I would just like to know how to reverse and make a clip o from one colour to anougher smoothley eg from black and white, back to its usual colour in one swift move. Thanks Rob

In order to set the speed of the clip, just right click on it and go to something that says something like "speed properties" or something similar to that. I've never tried to reverse anything, but try putting a negative value in the speed properties area. As for the rest of the stuff there's a tab right next to where you pull clips out of that says something like "effects" click it and then there's either audio transitions and effects, and also video transitions and effects. Mess around with different effects till you find something you like (most of the names pretty well explain what they do).
