I've asked this question before... I've used plug-ins like twixtor etc. with unsatisfying results.(maybe i'm just doing it wrong) How do they get those really slow-motion shots you see in skateboard videos and the tony hawk tour? They're using 3 chip dv cams just like us!? Does anybody know how to smoothly ramp up and down slow motion shots with keyframes? Is there a plug-in I don't know about? Is there any other special effect programs that are an alternative to AE?(I find the interface really hard to use). I'll consider switching to another program if they're easier to use...((I really want smooth slo-mo!!!)) enough of this stuttering BS!
I'm not sure exactly what you're after but ill give some feedback anyways.
I'm assuming you're using a MiniDV cam here and that means you can only record a max of 25 frames per second (or 30 if you NTSC). So this means that you'll only be able to slow it down to about 50% without it getting too choppy.
On the other hand if you're talking about getting the footage to gradually slow down then you need to use Avid or Vegas where you can add velocity envelopes and ****.
I'm not really sure about the tony hawks footage but chances are they used some sweet as camera thats completely out of our price range to shoot high fps.
Anyways hope thats of some help, i may have just missed the point completely

If your talking about the intro to girl's "yeah right" then they used film, not dv. Other videos just use ramped slo-mo, which there are tutorials for in premiere.

There are actually several programs out there for this... yet I can't seem to remember the name of a single one of them at the moment.
The deal is this, you slow down your footage creating the "choppy" effect, and then the program morphs between frames, creating a smooth slow mo motion.
Do a search online for slo motion video programs. That should turn something up. Good luck R. Michael

I remember back on the eXtreme channel (...Canada...), and there was some mini-docunmentory about how the pro's shoot their videos, and usually it's on XL1's. Though the specific model they had on hand was the GL2.
