I am looking for an alternative to my DV camcorder for recording sounds; something that can also hook directly to my computer (so if it's only headphones-out, then no) into compatible WAV/MP3 files of the same (or better) quality that my camcorder can produce when hooked to external mic. This is due to the fact that I would like to save on tape, and have a lot of ambient tone and ADR to do.
