I want to work on my editing, but I haven't shot anything in a while. Is there anywhere I could just get some raw footage to practice editing?

I know you'll probably all say, "Screw that and shoot something..." I plan on doing that, but in the meantime I'd like to work on my editing (also I've never edited anything I didn't shoot before, so I think that may be a cool experience)

Just adjust the shutter speed on your camera then you can jack stuff off TV. Just don't sell it and make sure all you are doing is editing.
Point the camera at teh tv and you can even record movies. Just up the shutter speed is all.

If you are not to hip to that, just download videos off teh net and import them to your editor. Have fun

Well, stuff on TV is already edited. I'm looking for raw unedited footage.

Just about everything open to the public is edited. Why would anybody release non-edited material. So my best advice is: "Screw that and shoot something". Or maybe "Screw that and have somebody else shoot something".

Actually try digging through old home videos. Or download a video that nobody has taken the time to edit and put it together. (ex. the guy completing the super mario brothers III game in 11 min from albinoblacksheep.com, etc.) I dont know about anybody else, but I dont generally release unediting footage out...

that comment was extremly distasteful brain, what happened, did you actually leave your brain in a box somewhere?
Whether you were kidding or not that comment about the American is deserving a kick in the crotch and then being punched in the face.
If you ever make a comment like that again I will personally see to it that you are kicked off the site and never come back again.

it really wasnt supposed to be a joke. i didnt really explain myself. i was thinkin about takin various footage from the iraqi war and making an emotional rollercoaster of a project. thats something to help your editing skils right? Instead of doing the editing of raw footage, do the editing of putting several clips together.

P.S. notice the "etc."

It depends on what kind of software you got, but if you have Final Cut Pro 4 like myself, you may want to spring the $30 for a training book (Like this one)that has tons of unedited footage and will immensely help your skills. Hope that helped.

The other thing you could check out is the Getty or AP stock film resources. They're wicked expensive, but the footage is great.

I appreciate you editing the post Brain. That really surprised me that one would do that for someone else. I don't want a bad vibe between us, but please understand I take those kind of comments to heart as my family has served in teh military and some have not come back alive or unchanged.
No hard feelings on my end.
