You think it's okay for you to trumpet Avid/Apple/Adobe, but it's not okay for me to mention Ulead, Quantel, Pinnacle, InSync or Vegas as equally "serious" alternatives.

um..... wait a sec.

By "Trumpeting avid/apple/adobe" do you mean he says things like "I edit with Avid Express, FCP and Premiere. I prefere those peices of software.". Cause that isn't exactly trumpeting. There is an immense diffrence between your pro ulead posts and his pro apple/avid/adobe posts. His are short, to the point and he's not trying to force anyone to agree with him. Yours are endless, full of links to difrent parts of uleads website, and you won't stop.

You like ulead. That is fine.

I like FCP. That is fine.

I don't like ulead. That is fine too.

Can't we just leave it at that? Let's discuss films. Let's not force our POV on each other. OK Jerry?

We're all (supposedly) here to discuss independent films. Let's do that!

Titanium said it best -- now I am still waiting for films by the gruesome twosome which is Jerry and Terry.

No - you wait a sec.

Anybody with a shred of personal honesty can see what has happened in this thread.

1. My first post never even mentioned a particular software product by name;

2. My first post merely included a link to my Web page about computer video editing to help the person who requested suggestions for an improved workstation at the outset of this thread;

3. Irony attacked my post AND the content of my Web page.

Those are the FACTS.

Afterward, I merely defended my point of view against Irony's attack.

The next thing I see is a post from 'Irony' claiming that to be 'serious' an editor MUST USE APPLE, AVID, or ADOBE.

He also went out of his way to attack my suggestion that an IBM workstation was a legitimate choice for non-linear video editing.

Then he goes on to recommend a Sony home user/enthusiast class computer over workstation class computers that I recommend.

It's fine to express an opinion in favor of one product or another.

But to attack somebody else's suggestion - in Irony's case - was wrong.

Moreover, his attack just proved how obnoxious and uninformed his points of view really are.

This is my last post to this thread.

alright, alright. up to the point where you say "Irony' claiming that to be 'serious' an editor MUST USE APPLE, AVID, or ADOBE." was a simple argument.

i'm not taking sides there. all parties involved could probably have been a little nicer or more helpful.

it's past this point that you overdid it a tad. your next 20 or so posts in this and other threads were basically WAY OVERDOING IT!

hooray! i hope that you will make a fresh start in other threads. remember not to over do your POV. it just seems like advertising. hopefully you will become a valuable member of the community.

Attack?
I guess that word can mean a lot of things, but I simply decided to go against your opinion by stating my own. I only started attacking when the spamming nonesense was getting to me.
I am sorry if it was too much for you, and I am sorry I don't use your workstations and buy Ulead software from you. Please forgive me.

"Irony is a Dead Scene" its unbelievble how you are personly attacking and cursing on/about "Jerry Jones". At least he is bringing arguments to the table, and i have read the whole topic and you are clearly acting VERY agressive to hem! Stop that madness. If you realy believe he is so bad, than file a complaint by the persons who are responsible for maintaining the rules here.
If there is enough evidence, the moderators can easely kick him of this board.

Furthermore, most of the people here (and sometimes people who know people) use Avid, Final Cut or Premiere... but that is no proof that the software itself IS better. Its more known, intergrated and the have build a good name, and the have gained influince on the market.

You (and this is for all the people here) say that other software is better, yet you haven't even tryded the program 'Jerry Jones' is trilled about...

I do support the opinion that he has gone a little to far in promoting it, but almost the same happens when people are defening Avid or FCP... No matter how you turn it: the way some people reacted to his post was WAY OF...

Its still not proven that he IS working for that company, and its clearly not a spam message.

Given the fact that people say Ulead is not better without even trying it, and reaction on a hostile manner, i think 'Jerry Jones' had every reason tho defend the software... altough i dont know why he IS doing that because most of the people here only want to know the most famaus programs...

Well, whats my opinion? If you want to work in the proffesional industry most of the jobs are asking for FCP or Avid experience. And on almost every movie credit you see the Avid logo...
Not the Ulead logo, so i think you are better of to learn one of the top programs first (Avid or FCP. Premiere is not used very often proffesional i think). And why is this? i dont know, maybe because the software is just better known, maybe because of big campaigns, maybe because people want to use something the already know, or maybe because its just better for the job than all the other edit software...

Jerry.

Are you aware that your lengthy defense is just slightly under four and a half years too late? Smile

Haha. I love this thread. Oh, how time has passed since these foul posts by Jerry Jones disgraced our forum. Why, since then I've become a moderator! How easy it would have been to dispatch him had I been so powerfully armed then.

Anyways. Jerry Jones is wrong. Always, and in everything he says. Ever.

Thread closed, cos it's super old.
