Premiere Question has got to be the best film of the year! Oh wait... That's not a film recommendation is it? My bad...

On a PC, to slow the footage down, right click on your clip in the timeline and select speed. Type in the percentage speed you want and render. Voila. It'll result in a little chop, but so goes life.

Shnap, I never saw that there. Very cool. I'm not sure exactly what that's doing, though, because it's still in an NTSC timeline, and I can see no artifacts on playback (Not only that, but there was no rendering). Have you tried outputting as PAL or SECAM (I assume that's what you're trying to do)?

I'm confused. I tried looking in frame hold, but I didn't see anything about changing the fps.

That's because that isn't what frame hold does. Frame hold is a shortcut for freeze framing in premiere, instead of using a still image, you take a video clip and choose the frame to hold on.

having said that, what exactly are you trying to do? Achieve the film look by altering frame rate? You arent trying to slow it down, you already said that, so i am guessing this is the idea. If this is the case, there's a whole lot of threads on better ways to get that look, frame rate in an NLE aint gonna do it. but for the record, here's how you WOULD do it in premiere - 1st off, it cant be done on an exisiting project - you must choose it before starting the project. New project -> Go to custom settings. If you choose DV, you can go to either 29.97 or 25 (PAL). This is mostly for matching the source file, i.e. NTSC vs. PAL camcorder. If you choose AVI, you get a choice of framerates, including 24.

If you want to make it look like film, this wont do it. Might make it significantly worse too - theres a whole lot of threads on that, so take a look.

Having said that, why do you want to change the framerate - what are you trying to accomplish? We'll be better equipped to answer your question with a bit more explanation, so drop us a line back and let us know.
