Hi everybody,

I recently got a digital sony handycam and when i loaded my shots onto the computer i found they were in an MPEG-2 format.

My question is: How do you edit MPEG-2 files? is there any free software on the internet that I can use, or do I need to buy something. I just want something simple.

Thanks guys, any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like HDV. You need an NLE like Final Cut or Premiere Pro.

If you have one of the DVD-recording cams or (though doubtful) a MicroMV cam, it should have come with software that will convert those files to AVI for you. Did you buy this new or used?

Simple answer to a simple question. Use the editing software provided or Movie Maker (Windows Frown ). If you have any problems with that try getting MPEG Streamclip from http://www.squared5.com/, it'll work on PC and MAC! Big Grin
