I've read a lot about problems with importing .avi files, I have one too.
I have Premiere 6.02, and converted a .MP2 to .AVI using Ulead VideoStudio 4.0 SE, which plays fine in Windows Media Player. I imported this clip into Premiere ok, and it previews just the clip fine, but when it previewd after inserting into the timeline, it plays a few frames 1/2seconds worth, then holds that frame for the rest of the duration of the clip. I'm stumped. Suggestions?

Thanks
- Gary

Also, I want to trim down a 1 hr + clip, 13Gigs, and it lets me import it, but I can't view it, even in preview.

I'm not suprised ... an .mp2 file is a sound file! (the forerunner to mp3 incidentally).
