I would like to film a shot where tons and tons of pills fall out of someone's mouth on to the lens. I do not want to damage or scratch etc of the lens, how could i get the same effect? Would some sort of glass mechanism work?
Please help!!

just get a thing of glass or plastic, have a few people hold it on top of the camera (I assume it will be pointing upward.>Wink and as for all of the pills or what not going exactly onto the camera lens area, have the subject aim at the lens, and practice makes perfect..

simple as that...

You should already have a UV filter on your camera to protect it. Assuming the pills you are dropping aren't made of metal, I'd just drop the pills onto that and clean the UV filter afterwards. No harm done.

Otherwise, if you want to maintain optimal picture sharpness, use glass not plastic, and try to get optically transparent glass (i.e. a UV filter!), although the difference may not be noticeable with consumer cameras.

Depending again on what type of pills you're using, you may also want to take steps to make sure pill dust doesn't get into the camera (through buttons, knobs, and focus rings).

Good fortune. Sounds like an interesting shot.

I did the same shot on one of my films except I used corn rather than pills. I just put the camera under a sheet of glass. That way i wouldn't damage the camera lens. if you want to see an example watch "A Child Named Corn". it's under comedy. It happens near the end of the film.

I would probably use the sheet of glass/plastic, too. Plan your lighting well and maybe use a polarizing lens to reduce reflection from the glass if it's still a problem and you'll be steady, freddy.
