Hey guys, I am currently using Adobe Premier to edit my film. It is good but I have been using FCP at college and I think it is a lot better. I have an iMAC G5 without intel. It is the older version, 1.8ghz, 256 RAM 160Gb mac. Does anyone Know if i can use Final Cut pro 5 on it or will i have to upgrade it?

you can run it with the older version no problem. The software that can not run with the NEW intel Macs are some plugins like after effects. But this should be corrected when the new versions come out.

Your G5 is compatible with final cut, although I'd recommend getting much more RAM (never used under a Gig of ram with it, so not sure how that will work out). And a bigger hardrive, as the files will be very large.

I would say the same. At least another 512mb ram and external hd drive. I have seen imac g5's run fcp 5 and at a good flow too. The ram has to be increased though.
