I have the book, can you elaborate on "doesn't work"? I am guessing you are running PPro 1.0 - 1.5 files will not open in 1.0. Is that the issue? Check your version.

Last i knew the PPro classroom in a book is still 1.0 - i havent seen it updated yet. If you are looking for a good general overview of the program, this book is pretty good. Might be worth picking up. Honestly, the lessons are more work oriented than "studio techniques" is anyway, as that book focuses a nit more on concepts instead of practicals.

Did you render the clip? If there is a red line above the clip on the timeline then it needs to be rendered. The clip you are watching is a preview being produced at run time by the software. When you render the clip, a new video file is created with the effect properly in place, producing the desired effect at full res. The purpose of the unrendered version is to increase workflow as renders take some time to produce. So, to render your work, press enter, wait for it to complete and watch your new, non jerky footage Big Grin Also note that the rendered footage now has a green line above it instead of red, indicating that it has been rendered.

Side note - unrendered previews will be less jerky if you put the monitor on draft quality. On the top right next to the monitor there is an arrow. Click it and choose draft quality halfway down. Choosing automatic will automatically switch between full quality and draft as it sees fit.
