I have an analogue capture card and I use a Hitachi Dv cam. I plugin my camera to my vcr and record the footage I have onto a blank tape. Then I use the footage from the tape and hook it up to my analogue capture card. Do I lose alot of image quality this way, if so can anyone recommend a good capture card for this type of camera. It records onto dvd's.

Get firewire... You will need a firewire card (unless your computer has one already), you can get one for 30-40 bucks US...and then it SHOULD come with a cable and if not, get one for 10-15 bucks...
And then plug the cable into the camera (if it's digital, it has the input), and into the card (which is in your comptuer) and capture...perfect quality.
Yeah, your losing a considerable amount of picture quality. I would really recommened getting a firewire card. No reason to shoot digital, just to throw it all away on VHS. R. M.
do you have a hitachi dv-ram? If so, they only use the usb 1 or 2.0 editing interface. But if you do have the dvd-ram camera, I'd buy a dvd player for $50(if you don't have one) and capture from there. Look for a program to rip dvd's or whatever. I think the camera records to mini dvd's.
