Hey i wanted to find out what some of you did with your completed projects. Like do you make a master and erase all the raw files off your comp, or do you keep them for any reason? Or w/e you do

well... as soon as i'm done editing a scene (and have watched it over the a week or so to make sure it's good) i do a Copy and Delete Unsed Media in FCP. then i have a folder with only the clips i used. if it's a small project i'd burn them to a DVD-R when i'm done. if it's huge... make a bunch of tapes. copy out any REALLY good parts to another file and delete it all... maybe keep the projects. so you can get effects out of them, or one day, reimport it (if it's got timecode) and change stuff.

I'll usually render projects for view on the web if they are small enough, but I'll export all my completed projects onto a MiniDV tape (labeled final projects or something). I also save the old MiniDV tapes with the original dv footage on them since I may need or want to see them in the future.

i wait usually at least six months to make sure the project is truly finalized and then render one full res file, save that, dump the rest, and archive it to miniDV.

I do the same thing. I also eventually delete all the files from the school video lab computer, because my films are notorious harddrive hogs and I don't want to selfishly use all that space for myself and take it away from other filmmakers.
