Rumors are it's EOL'd and FCP Extreme will take it's place whenever it is released.

Yes, I just read that. Interesting. I'm tempted to buy Shake, but I don't want to end up jumping on a dead program and having to spend much much more later, to get into Final Cut Extreme.

That and the fact that I don't actually NEED Shake, and just want to play with it.

Same here. I don't need Shake, and it would take ages to learn. I just got the new AE, and it's such an amazing improvement over previous interfaces. I love it.
