What is the difference between a consumer version of Final Cut Studio and the academic version. Do academic versions contain less features than the consumer version or are they the same product with a discounted price especially for students?

The latter. You get the full deal, for less moolah. Smile You're not supposed to work commercially with the software, and sometimes the cheap upgrades later down the line aren't are not as numerous, but other than that, it's amazing.
