I was wondering if there is anyone who is capable of animating blood dripping down from black. If so, would they be interested in helping me with a DVD menu. I need it to be around 10 minutes of the blood sliding down until it the screen is completely red. They would of course be given a title card with their name and site under DVD menu design.

Ten MINUTES?!

I'm sure someone can do it, but I'm wondering if it might be easier to set up a piece of glass in a dark room, light it, and drip fake blood over it.

10 minutes is way overkill for a DVD menu. That's going to consume a significant amount of disc space as it stands - even Criterion limits their menu footage to no more than 90 seconds to 2 minutes, in my experience.

10 minutes. 5 if they are animating frame by frame, and yeah, what Criterion limit is no big deal. I'm going to pull off whatever I can manage.

EDIT:
1) Because I want to know if it can be done this way.
2) Don't have time to film it pr set it up.

Animating does seem like the best choice. I've never done it, but After Effects should have some good tools. I'm not sure exactly what you want, though, do you have any examples? Would it actually be a mass of blood that slides down the screen as one object? That sounds relatively easy, although again, I've never tried it.

I would want it sliding down seperately. Smile Just toying with the idea, may end up being shot literally, eventually.

He wants 10 minutes because he doesn't understand the potential work involved.

Especially, yes. When he could merely use something that can substitue as blood-- any liquid, and merely colour correct it so it's red...

[/theory...(?)]

EDIT: That wasn't SUPPOSED to sound rude if it did, so I apologize. I remember in Psycho, Hitchcock used Hershey's Chocolate syrup to create blood. It was black and white I reckon, so it worked. Which is why I figured the colour correction theory might work, eh?
