28 days later was filmed with an XL1 on miniDV, but when it was released, it looked very very close if not exactly like 35mm. Is there anyway to achieve the same look using Final cut pro or express? What did they use to make the DVish look go away?

Did you really think it looked close to 35mil? It looks good, it looks damn good, but it doesn't look like film. They used DV because they didn't want it to look like film, and it doesn't. I think.

Yeah - I could instantly tell when the switched to the new ending that was shot on film for the American release. (the jet flying over part)

I loved the look, but it was distinctly different from film. I think what you're referring to, Darko, is probably the fact that it was shot LIKE film. Lit well, shallow depth-of-field, deep colors. A lot of things can be done to make DV look better, both during and after shooting. Light it well, or use good natural light. Zoom in from far away to get a better DOF with blurry backgrounds. Color correct in post, etc.

Whoa whoa whoa... new ending? I saw this on Region 2 DVD and that's what I got. I was a bit suspicious... is that not the real ending?!!?
