I've been experimenting with gun muzzles, for my up and coming movie and thought I'd share with u my first result.

gun001.wmv

The person (me) in the video isnt acting at all, which explains the gun firing, instead I wanted to focus on the effect.

The effect is broken into two frames. The first has a gun muzzle "flame" effect. The second frame the muzzle is removed and the overal image increased in white by around 75%.

Let me know wat u make of it, and tell me wat I could improve, thanks everyone.

Hey just wanted to let you know the link won't work. Lycos doesn't let people link directly to stuff for some reason. I went to your site but couldn't find where it was at. So maybe you could link to it from your main site.

gun muzzle flashes are fun and frustrating to get right. went through the same process last summer. What program are you using? I used adobe PP. How are you going about adding it in right now? From what i saw i think you could get a more realistic shot if you took out the whiteness and put in a more realistic looking muzzle flash. Something like :

But thats just my opinion... its up to you... i just lknow how frustrating the damn muzzle flash can be

Hey thanks for the link.

I am editing souly on Adobe PP. the muzzle flashes on screen for 1 frame and on the following frame the muzzle is removed and I increased the overal whiteness of the clip to get the "flash" effect.

It was my first go so I'll keep trying to get it right. Alot of the film I am making features gun shots, so I need to try and get it as good as possible.

That gif u linked to looks cool, I'll do a render with it and I'll post an updated, shorter video here wen done - do u have a link to the file that u did last year, out of interest?

Thanks again
