I'm looking for a flashback sound which is being used in alot of professional films. It's a deep quick sound which is being used in flashback scenes f.x.
The flashback on sounddogs.com is not what i'm looking for, as i said its a deep and quick sound effect which is being used in flashback scenes.
And btw i'm new on this forum
Thanks for you'r help Jeppe S. Christensen

can you be at all more specific.... I know it's hard.
Is it a whoosh? With adjusting speed, reverb/echo, and possibly reversing the sound, you can do a lot of things with a whoosh. I built this really cool sound for a DVD extra on the cinderella story DVD using a sounddogs whoosh and some silverware dropping sped up. It was used as a 'reveal' sound effect throughout the game, but easily could have been a flashback indicator. If I owned it, I'd totally give it to you. Unfortunately Disney has the rights to it now.
Thanks for the answers. About "Whoosh" sound, do you mean the sound that is used when camera fast zoom in on a person? Because i would really like that sound too.
Let me try to describe the sound i need, some more. It is sometimes used when titels quick show up on a black background. I don't know if Blizzard Entertainment uses it. And as i said, its deep sound. Hmm actually its like the "Slam" sound when an angry person slam an iron door or something like that.
I'll search for some Film company logos with that sound. I'll return with more information, but until now.. thanks for the answers.

Maybe something that would be easier is the oldschool flashback sound where they use a harp and the transition is like a whirlpool with ripples. Know what I'm talking about?
OK. I know exactly what you mean. I have no idea how to make it though. Try some stuff with swishing long rods and sticks, or even things like spatulas that have some holes for air to pass through. Play with speed and pitch in post. The trick to getting nice swishing sounds out of objects to to swish from the wrist, and not the arm. Flick with the wrist, and you increase the speed of the swish, which makes more sound.

You talk very "professionaly" so its hard for me to understand how you make the sounds yourself. Also i'm not working with sound that much, mostly editing. But thanks for explaining anyway. Joren is linking to the zooming sound that is so über nice. Maybe if you cut a little off it, then it can be used as the deep sound i'm looking for.
But Joren, the quality of that sound on underdogs is very bad, how do i get it in better quality? (http://sounddogs.com/previews/101/mp3/156057_SOUNDDOGS_Wh.mp3) At least you guys know what i'm looking for now.

Which parts were too professional? It's always hard to judge the experience of someone online, so if we say stuff that makes no sense, just ask us for clarification. No problemo.

That was a little hard for me to understand since i'm not working that much with audio creation and editing. But i think i've found what i'm looking for now, and i'll buy the sound asap from sounddogs.
#Joren, i've just stumpled upon that side at my endless search on google. I didn't know what to search for exactly, but then i found this wonderful site
#All
Thanks for you'r help, i have finally got the sound i have searched for for too long. And i think i will use sounddogs some more in the future. It has better sounds that i actually thought.

LOL! I'm not talking about pro stuff there I'm talking about swishing long rods and sticks in front of a microphone. And then, use an audio editing program, if you have one, to play with the speed of the sound effect, or to change the pitch. Sorry if it sounded confusing.

Hey huhe, I'm a n00b not unlike yourself, and I was looking for a flashback sound the other day. I don't know exactly what you're looking for, but I know what worked for me is similar to what people are telling you here:
I found an out-of-copyright (read: free) sound of wind blowing. Not howling, not blustering - just a slow, even wind sound. Then I used Audacity (great, free, open-source sound editor) to amplify it, fade it in over about 3 seconds, and then fade it out in about half a second. I gave it a bit of reverb (called Gverb in Audacity - long story) and it came out exactly how I wanted. I'll link a similar sound below, in case you're wondering what I was going for.
