On a weekly basis I capture several full minidv tapes onto my computer. The problem is that I want to be able to tell premiere to capture say 6 minutes put it in a file; the next 6 minutes in the next sequential file and so on. I figured I might be able to use 1.5's scene detection capibilities to do this, but so far that looks like it will not do anything other than split scenes by the timecode or capture prelogged clips.

I would just like premiere to split my video into equally sized chunks while capturing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

besides using scene detection (which i wouldnt recommend) or by logginh clips, i would capture the entire file in one chunk, then use a third party piece of software to cut it up. Premiere produces an AVI file, and there are programs out there (should be a few for free on download.com) that will divide AVI files into chunks just like you were talking about, and even name them according to a convention that you set. Take a look, they're out there.
