I'm trying to record sounds to add over my movie, however im having trouble with my computers microphone. Everything I record comes out with a lot of fuzziness in the background. I tried adjusting the Input level but this did nothing. Do I just need a better microphone (I bought it quite cheap) or is there some way I can get rid of the background static when I record. Thanks it advance.

There is probably three things wrong - 1, your microphone. Cheap is never a good thing. A good microphone is a necessary investment. 2, your stock sound card, if that is how you are going in, isnt realyl designed for this kind of work. The jacks are very cheap and prone tyo noise. 3, the cable is likely a mini plug, and this means you are going to pick noise in the line. If you had a balanced jack (either via a balanced 1/4" or XLR connection) the noise would go away.
Use your camcorder's mic and then dump it in over firewire, thats the cheapest way. Elsewise you could drop some cash on better audio equipment.

you could also see if somebody in your area has a home audio studio, and see if you can use that. fortunatly for me my old man is a muso and has all the digital home studio recording gear in our studio, which includes a MANN studio condenser
