Ok I'm looking for a sound effect that is kind of hard to describe (which is probably why I'm having a hard time finding it). Anyway, it's the sound that plays during a shocking moment of revelation. It sounds like DUN DUN DUN! If anyone has any idea what I'm talking about or can find this sound effect it would be EXTREMELY helpful.

Wouldn't that be more like part of the musical score? Or do you mean some kind of low background sound, like the "Lost" flashback sound, or that ominous rushing sound in "24" when Jack spies a nuclear bomb?

It's not really a score per say. It's almost like an old radio show kind of sound effect, or like an old sci-fi movie kind of deal.

Is it percussive? Could it be a tom-tom or a bass drum?

It's sounds like a brass (possibly low brass) instrument. This is so frustrating, if I ever find it I'll post it and you guys will know EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

I know what you are talking about man. Check sounddogs.com. They have everything there. I couldn't find it on any other website though.

The sound you're looking for is referred to as an orchestral stab, or orchestral accent. You can search for either of these on sounddogs.com and get a list of samples to pick through. You probably won't find the exact one you're looking for (and if you do you'll pay a high price for it since it's probably popular and is more of an orchestral composition than a sound effect). Good huntin' though.
