I'm in the final stages of editing my first feature, Nice Dream, and I was really curious how to avoid writing to VHS. If I had my way, I would just write it to DVD and play it on that.
My roomate has a DVD writer, and I was wondering what is the best way to write it to DVD? I'm considering using Encore, but I want to weigh some other options, since I don't really have much time to spend on menus and whatnot. I'm just looking for something that will play on DVD players for televisions.
Thanks a lot, Charlie

Just to make sure, to author a dvd you need your film encoded in the mpeg2 format.
ill assume your using a PC if your considering Encore. Encore is pretty high end, as far as dvd authoring software goes. You might want to try soemthing like ulead dvd movie factory, or a similar program, that gives you several templates to choose from for menus. Personally I use TMPEGenc to convert my AVI file to Mpeg2 and TMPGencDVD author to burn them to dvd (after splitting the audio and video files) http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html
Although once a file is in mpeg2 format some programs, like ulead, can just burn them onto a dvd. Try this website http://www.videohelp.com/author , for a more in depth overview
